Call for Local Artists

Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization established to assist the San Miguel County Public Library District #1. Our goals include promoting public awareness of library services, support for library improvement and advancement, and sponsoring cultural and educational programs and activities.

The Friends are hoping to commission a unique piece of art by a local artist that will embody the spirit of collaboration between the library, the FOL members and local business collaborators.

The piece will be located opposite the glass doors to the patio; the painting that is currently hanging there is about 30″ x 52″.

Submissions are requested by 3/31/18. All submissions should include a sketch with dimensions as well as a verbal description of the proposed piece and how it fits in with the spirit of FOL goals. Please refer to the FOL page for more information about the work of the Friends and their business partners. Submissions can be dropped at the FOL mail slot at the library or emailed to  Considered artists will be notified by 4/15/18, and meetings with the FOL Board members will be set up to discuss their proposals.

Artist compensation will be $1500.
